Author, art specialist Krista Launonen joins Confidants

"I'm excited to join the Confidants team. I'll promise to bring edgy and entertaining content on truly important topics. My favourite subject is nothing less than life and death and how to cope with them! How can we enjoy life to the fullest and overcome the challenges of everyday life? I am specialised in the visual culture of death. I challenge you; dare to hear more?", Krista Launonen.

Krista has a strong background in various positions and roles in media and arts:
She has a BA in Fine Art from Surrey University, Krista Launonen, and an MA in Arts from the University of Helsinki, majoring in Art History. Krista worked in the magazine industry for over 15 years, the last 7 media years as editor-in-chief of Trendi and Voi hyvin magazines.

“I know the pains and pleasures of working life. However, I have found many functional solutions to the challenges, and I am thrilled to share all my knowledge. My goal is to help others feel better and to broaden the horizon of thinking. Over the last 10 years I have talked a lot about creativity, art, and mental well-being, but in recent years I have also talked about death. It is a theme in my work, art, books, and research. But when I talk about death, I'm really talking about life and, more specifically, what a good life is. How to live a full life now - and not sometime in the future? That is why I love to talk about annoying people! On the stage, I have a bold attitude, tinged with black humour. My most recent nonfiction book, “Kuvankauniit ja kuolleet” published 25th of February, is about the ideal crime victim. I investigated why a white, beautiful young woman gets the most media attention when she dies or disappears. I explore the issue through media images. True crime is very popular now. It really reveals a lot about our relationship with death. What? I'd be happy to tell you more about that. “ says Krista.

Welcome Krista!
